Post internet
POST INTERNET est un terme utilisé pour la première fois par Marisa Olson, pour qualifier toute une génération d’artistes nés dans (ou après) les années 80, formés en arts et influencés par la culture internet alternative naissante. Pour cette génération internet n’est pas qu’un moyen de création (ie. net art) mais un sujet, un dispositif et une esthétique en soi. C’est la structure de pensée et de création, généralement critique, qui devient le reflet de l’époque 2.0.
POSTINTERNET is a term first used by Marisa Olson to describe a whole generation of artists born in (or after) the 1980s, trained in art and influenced by the emerging alternative internet culture. For this generation the internet is not just a medium (ie. net art) but a subject, a device and an aesthetic in itself. It is the structure of thought and creation, usually critical, that becomes the reflection of the 2.0 era.
Depuis peu l’art post-internet retrouve une vivacité, après ses lettres de noblesses dans le début des années 2010 avec notamment la fameuse exposition Coworkers, le réseau comme artiste, mis en scène par le collectif new-yorkais DIS en 2015. Si cette exposition a fait émerger un langage inédit inspiré des ressources d’Internet, les oeuvres réintègrent désormais souvent le réseau, via notamment les NFT, et questionnent par là-même des notions d’esthétiques et de valeur oeuvre au coeur même de la toile.
Post-Internet art has recently come back to life, following on from its heyday in the early 2010s with the famous exhibition Coworkers, the network as artist, staged by the New York collective DIS in 2015. While this exhibition saw the emergence of a new language inspired by the resources of the Internet, the works are now often reintegrated into the network, notably via the NFT, and in the process question notions of aesthetics and the value of the work at the very heart of the web.
