Ju Bourgain
Le travail de Ju Bourgain est un voyage initiatique à l’ère post-internet. Des corps, mutantx et post-binaires s’allient avec les folles qui hantent l’histoire occidentale pour vibrer, pour danser jusqu’à l’épuisement de la chair, jusqu’à toucher l’éther et s’ouvrir enfin à la « tendre indifférence du monde »* (*A.Camus). L’esthétique de l’artiste est celle de la fête comme un temps de transe collective, un rituel de passage, une mutation dans l’errance et le tâtonnement. Les performances chorégraphiées, telles sorties d’un rêve, s’insinuent dans le monde dit réel et ouvrent une brèche de contact. Il est question de transformation.
Ju Bourgain’s work is a voyage of initiation into the post-internet age. Bodies, mutantx and post-binary, join forces with the madwomen who haunt Western history to vibrate, to dance until the flesh is exhausted, until they touch the ether and finally open up to the « tender indifference of the world « * (*A.Camus). The artist’s aesthetic is that of the festival as a time of collective trance, a ritual of passage, a mutation in wandering and groping. The choreographed performances, like something out of a dream, creep into the so-called real world and open up a breach of contact. It’s all about transformation.
La grammaire est fragile et touchante, faite de parures, de bulles de savons, de paillettes, de peau, de liens et de mouvements dans les champs. La bande son, généralement techno, telle la pulsation d’une génération alien au monde néolibéral vient glitcher l’ordre binaire. Bref un subtil mélange d’urgence et de vulnérabilité qui nous tient en haleine. Il est question d’amour.
The grammar is fragile and touching, made up of finery, soap bubbles, sequins, skin, links and movements in the fields.
