Elle en tire des dispositifs performatifs spectacles, prétextes à une expérience sensorielle totale. Tel un zoom pixélisé sur un point de détail le récit devient secondaire, c’est le bruit à l’intérieur du silence, le vide à l’intérieur de l’image qui l’intéressent. Chloé Riviera créer des tableaux comme des temps suspendus en état de pleine conscience dans une esthétique spectrale sculptée par la lumière.
She uses these images to create performance devices that are pretexts for a total sensory experience. Like a pixelated zoom on a point of detail, the narrative becomes secondary; it’s the noise within the silence, the emptiness within the image that interests her. Chloé Riviera creates paintings as if suspended in time, in a state of full awareness, in a spectral aesthetic sculpted by light.
L’univers artistique de l’artiste est peuplé de personnages. Tels de marionnettes qui animent les obsessions visuelles et sonores de l’artistes, iels semblent toucher aux rêves et devoir y rester, en boucle. Iels apparaissent, se mettent en présence sans véritablement être avec nous, touchent nos inconscients collectifs, nos émotions refoulées, et disparaissent sans laisser traces. L’esthétique est léchée, travaillée, maîtrisée. Le spectacle ne montre pas ses dessous.
The artist’s artistic universe is populated by characters. Like puppets animating the artist’s visual and sonic obsessions, they seem to touch on dreams and must remain there, in a loop. They appear, make their presence felt without really being with us, touch our collective unconscious, our repressed emotions, and disappear without a trace. The aesthetic is polished, polished, controlled. The show doesn’t show its underbelly.
